Although my blog is primarily about my kitchen adventures, I cannot and do not want to forget that there are people who are not able to explore and enjoy food the way I do. So it’s important for me to create awareness about how we can help those who struggle to survive each day. I am very honoured to feature this article about a charity close to my heart called ‘Oru Paanai’. ‘Oru Paanai’ is a tamil expression which is translated in English as ‘one pot’ and this charity was established in 2008 as a result of hearing about the starving and poverty-stricken children in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. The work they do has helped so many children by providing them with food at 311 schools to feed 33,000 children who would otherwise be malnourished.
